A whole-property refresh in Dargavel this week. The render was soft washed rather than blasted — a low-pressure detergent treatment that lifts algae and black staining off the finish instead of forcing water into it, which is what keeps render looking the way it was laid. Alongside it, the gutters and fascias were cleared of moss and silt and washed through, so the rainwater channels run free and the trim reads clean from the street. The driveway finished the job: pressure washed to bring back the block pattern and shift the green film from the joints. One visit, one crew, and the whole front of the house done.
A roof in Clydebank that had gone right over with moss, called in as an emergency and fitted around our domestic bookings. The moss came off by hand — a gentle brush and compressed air, not a pressure lance — because pressure on aged tiles lifts the surface glaze and drives water under the lap, which is how a clean roof ends up leaking. Once the tiles were bare, a biocidal treatment went over the whole roof to kill the spores left behind and slow regrowth, so it stays clear for years rather than a single season. The tiles came back to their original colour, the roof was left dry and intact, and nothing was washed into the gutters or the ground below.
